Welcome to the Citizens team guide. As a City fan myself I care greatly about the team and hope my insights into the team can help you mimic the great playing style and near dominance the team is showing in the real world
We all know that City has a huge amount of money, and in-game you start with a whopping 80 million transfer budget and a 3.4 million per week wage budget, which still has 201k per week left in it. Using this carefully will help you long-term and you can definitely get one solid signing in for the season ahead.
Well we know there are two choices her, Ederson and Mr No Catch, sorry Claudio Bravo.
At 23-years-old he should be your first choice keeper. He also has the ability to gain an extra half star ability. Angus Gunn who is now loaned out is, the highest potential youth goalkeeper with a max 3 star potential could be a good back up keeper if trained well.
Well we have the 3 central defenders, Otamendi, Stones and Komapny. These three will be your main defenders, myself sticking to a Stones Kompany partnership. Mangala is decent back up but I often sell him off asap and use 19-year-old Tosin Adarabioyo as the back up/reserve defender, and although not rated good enough he has always put in a good shift for me. Jason Denayer who is now on loan is 3.5 star potential defender, which in perspective Otemendi is a 3 star player in this team. Will be your hottest prospect for the central defender roles.
City has Walker, Danilo, Mendy and Delph as full backs. Stones can play as a right back but not his best role. Walker and Mendy are your full back options but as you start Mendy will be injured for around two months, and I generally use Delph as the left back and use Danilio as the back up. Angelino and Maffeo are both great youth prospects for full backs, Maffeo being 4 star potential and Angelino is a 3 star option
Where do we start here. So many midfielders, the best 2 central midfielders in the club are rated as De Bruyne and David Silva, but I use Silva and Gundogan, as De Bruyne is the best attacking central midfielder.
On the wings the best options are Sane and Bernardo Silva. Steling and Jesus are the two best back up options for wingers. Fernandinho and Toure are the best central midfield back up options when you arrive.
Yangel Harrera is 3.5 star potential central midfielder who trained right really could be something special for you. Alex Garcia is another who could be a 3.5 player, and a solid paring in the middle of the field.
Phil Foden is a potential 4 star AMC that could really set the league on fire in a few years time, Zinchenko and Matondo are the best two wingers the youth have, 16-year-old Welshman Matondo is a natural right-winger but is young enough to be trained more as a left winger or inside forward.
We know the strikers, Aguero and Jesus, these two will lead the lines and Jesus could become a 5 star striker if trained correctly. Lorenzo Gonzalez and Moreno are potential 3.5 star strikers now in the club.
This is all personal opinions about transfers I always try to sell off Mangala and Toure off at the start. They get very little playing time and if both gone will gain you an extra 290k per week in wage budget. Most young players who wont get playing time I send out on loan if possible, I always set the staff instructions to offer loans at 100% wages and fees of 25%, this really helps as lots can go, and even if not for the full amount asked can really help reduce losses in a season.
Now this is where I maybe different from most players, as most will want to get a defender in. I on the other hand look for a striker, as in real life only 2 strikers is not enough. I can not recommend Belotti enough for this, he knows he wont be first team but can still put in a good shift when played. In my save in 29 apps he scored 23 goals and contributed 7 assists. Not bad when I picked him up for around 45 mil. If you don’t sell anyone that will still leave you with 35 mil for a defender or a goalkeeper as no one will willing look to keep Bravo for a long time.
I am a fan for City to use a Controlling 4231 wide tactic, using 2 ball playing central defenders, flanked by 2 attacking wingbacks. I do this as I use the team instruction of Shorter Passing and Play out of defence. In the center of the pitch I use a pairing of a defending Deep Laying playmaker and a supportive advanced playmaker. Then going forward the left is an attacking winger, the right is a supportive winger and the center is an attacking midfielder, if I had a good one I would use a Shadow Striker. Upfront a Trequartista leads the line, or depending on player could be a poacher.
